Judy Lowy OAM

Judy is the founding President of The Moriah Foundation and served on the Board of Directors of Moriah College from 2008-2022.

Judy was involved in the working group that initiated the establishment of a Foundation for Moriah College between

2009 and 2011.

Judy has been involved in Sydney’s Jewish community for over 30 years in both leadership and fundraising roles and has chaired several highly successful appeals.

Bruce Fink OAM

Bruce’s career spans over 30 years across various fields in the media and entertainment industries, including out of home advertising, cinema exhibition and television production. He is principal of the privately-held Bickham Court Group that has a diversified portfolio of investments. Having always had an interest in start-ups,
Bruce co-founded Executive Channel Holdings, where he is the Executive Chairman.

Bruce serves on the board of the Children’s Medical Research Institute and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2018 for service to the community through charitable organisations.

Giora Friede

Giora’s career spans over 30 years in the technology and property fields. Giora is currently chairman of the privately-held Invespro and Ultimate Football. He also serves as a non-executive director of Zeetings, Scribble, Ramp RFID and is a member of the Advisory Council of Edrolo.

Giora was elected a Life Patron of Moriah War Memorial College Association and The Moriah War Memorial Jewish College Association Limited in June 2022. He served as the President of Moriah College from November 2012 to May 2018 and on the Board of Directors of the College between 1999 and 2018.

Robert Gavshon AM

Robert migrated to Australia from South Africa in 1978 where he was a partner in one of the largest law firms. He is a founder of Quartet Ventures, a private equity investor. Robert was a significant shareholder and director of several private and public companies including Barbeques Galore, Rebel Sport and Hi-Pages. In the last decade he has been primarily involved in the education sector as chairman of Think: Education Group and Open Colleges, and is the founder of Cluey Learning.

Robert is a Trustee of the Moriah College Building Fund, a Life Patron of Moriah War Memorial College Association and The Moriah War Memorial Jewish College Association Limited, and past President of Moriah College.

Stephen Jankelowitz

Stephen is a founding director of Ageis Advisors, a boutique multidisciplined financial services firm specialising in accounting, tax, legal, and family office for private clients and their entities. Previously Stephen was a Director and CEO of a CBD based Chartered Accounting and Tax Advisory practice, where he was employed for 16 years.

Stephen is currently the President of Moriah College, having previously served as its Treasurer for six years, and as the Foundation Treasurer for five years.

Lauren Placks

BEd (Physical and Health Devt) (Honours)

Director since December 2017

Lauren is an experienced and passionately dedicated charity and not- for-profit community leader. For more than a decade, she has held leadership roles and maintained active involvement in various charities such as the JCA, Australian Jewish Fertility Network and Australian Jewish Funders.

Lauren is a 2002 Moriah College graduate, who after completing a Bachelor of Senior Education (Physical and Health Education) with Honours ran a successful personal training business.

Her time is now largely spent focusing on events, strategic planning and engagement within the community, and helping to encourage her fellow cohort to begin their own philanthropic journey.

Lance Rosenberg

Lance Rosenberg is the Managing Director of Gleneagle Securities (Aust) Pty Ltd, a boutique investment bank and brokerage firm offering a full range of financial services to local and international clients.

As well as being a director of Hakoah, Lance is a founding director and cornerstone investor in Centennial Property Group and a number of other Fund Managers and Private equity platforms.

Daniel Sekers

Daniel currently serves as Non-Executive Chairman of global cybersecurity company Votiro Cybersec and is Managing Director of investment and advisory firm Divergent Group. Daniel has over 20 years general business, strategic and operational experience across a broad range of corporate, government and not-for-profit organisations.

Daniel is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Australia Israel Chamber of Commerce as well as on the Board of the Sydney Pacific Chapter of the Young Presidents Organisation.

Daniel was appointed to the Board of Directors of Moriah College in June 2022.

Danny Taibel

Independent Non-Executive Director since July 2022

After garnering global experience in his chosen profession of auctioneering, Danny founded Charleston’s Fine Art Auctions back in 1997 and has been its energetic and engaged director for over a quarter-century, supporting and aiding his valued clients every step of the way.

Danny’s local communal contributions have been many and varied. He served on the Mount Sinai Board from 2004 until 2008. Danny is a lifelong committed Zionist and was honoured to serve as UIA campaign chairman from 2009 to 2013, assuming the position of chairman between 2014 to 2018.

Across the wide arc of 19 years and commencing in 2005, Danny has had a long and rewarding connection with The Central Synagogue. He was honoured to contribute as a board member, treasurer, vice president and president.

Acknowledgement

After eight years as the inaugural chairman of The Moriah Foundation, and four years serving as a member on the College Board, in 2019 Brian Schwartz AM was appointed as a Life Governor of the Moriah College Associations. A Life Governor is a person who gives significant donation, or renders to the Company such significant services, that the Directors consider worthy of special recognition.

Brian demonstrated such a significant service and The College, and Jewish community, are indebted to Brian for his contributions.
